GEORGE BAXTER, Chartered Architect R.I.B.A. (Royal Institute of British Architects) B.A, Hons. Architectural Design jst class honours. Diploma in Architecture with Distinction, Brighton University. Higher National Diploma in Business Studies.

• George Baxter Principal and founder of Architectural practice, George Baxter Associates, Pooh Corner Studio, St. George ‘s Lane, Hurstpierpoint. Established for 16 years within the south east specialising in ‘one-off’ upmarket property for individual clients whether this be new build, alterations or extensions. Over the years the practice has won home design awards, has worked with The National Trust and has extensive contacts within the south east area.
• George Baxter has written several major ‘series’ of articles for Home Building & Renovating magazine. The magazine is one of the leaders in home interest; it is sold on a monthly basis. A 12 month series on ‘D.I.Y. design’ was followed with a further series of 15 feature articles on Interior Design. The success of these articles and the growth in home interest has brought about the idea of writing a book and launching a website.
• The book: HOME DESIGN How to Design Your Own Home, Extension or Alteration will be completed early November with a launch at The Home Building & Renovating Show in Birmingham mid March 2001. The book is aimed at the ‘up-market’ residential property owner. The book will coincide with the launch of www.homedesign-online.co.uk This website will offer a whole range of design services and products aimed at the home owner. It will be run by George Baxter Associates R~BA, Chartered Architects. The book is to be published by Stonepound Books who have a very successful track record in their ‘How To’ series (i.e. already on the shelves: How to Stop & Influence Planning Permission; How to Find & Buy a Building Plot; How to get Planning Permission; How to Finance your Self-Build). The publishers of Stonepound Books are also assistant editors of ‘Build It’ magazine.
• George Baxter is on the ‘Home Building & Renovating’ Experts panel and gives regular advice to readers on ‘design’. For a number of years he has presented ‘design seminars’ at the Home Building & Renovating exhibition in Birmingham.
• George Baxter runs a series of 3 lectures for post-graduate architectural students at Brighton University.
• George Baxter was a member of an Architect’s panel giving design advice to a Local Planning Authority within the south east area. (This was a 4-year post).
• George Baxter is a consultant to one of the largest residential property agencies in the south east: Monkhouse Bannisters who specialise in large detached upmarket rural property.
